They are made of a central piece of material where the baby sits (the pouch section), with 4 straps placed around it, two for the waist and two to go across the shoulders. The design is simple, but so versatile that one carrier can be used for many different holds, by different people for different aged children! Fantastic value.
The body of the sling is approximately 17 inches in width and 21 1/2 inches in length. I found this is the ideal length for my little boy to have his arms out exploring or playing with his toys, or if he brings his arms inside the sling, he has back support and (depending on the age/size of your child) some head support. (please note that if you are buying for an older toddler, it may not provide much head support, however if your child is older is it less likely they will need the sling for sleeping).
The length of the pouch section means that it can be used even when your child is an older toddler and still provide plenty of back support, yet can still be used with smaller or younger babies by folding over the waist straps over the pouch section before tying. This shortens the length of the pouch section.
Each Chrysalis Carrier Mei Tai consists of the following: - Curved sides in the main pouch area to make it more comfortable for your child's legs. ( I found that my little boy's legs were uncomfortably high without this addition. )
- Wide,lightly padded shoulder straps, padded enough to be comfortable, but not bulky, approximately 60 inches in length and 5 inches in width.*
- Wide non-padded waist straps, approximately 30 inches in length, and 4 1/2 inches in width.*
- Integrated toy loop added to a shoulder strap for bringing along your child's favourite toy on the journey.
- Re-inforced stitching on every seam, with extra re-inforcement around the straps joinings for added reassurance.
Each carrier comes with the following:
- A multi-use snap strap: to wrap around your carrier when not in use to keep it tidy to use as an additional toy loop wrapped around the shoulder straps to make carrying baby in front facing position more comfortable by strapping across the centre of the pouch.

*These lengths for the shoulder and waist straps should be suitable for the majority of people, however we can custom make longer straps should this be required.*
